Today I had my first visit to the Student Health Center here at UCI. The parking, like everywhere in Irvine, was terrible. The nurse was really nice, and I got a med student and a real doctor to look at me, so hopefully they caught everything!

I went in cause I had what I thought was a pus blister in the back of my throat. (Ewww.) Katrina thought it was strep throat, so I went in to have them look at it. The med student took a look first and agreed that I needed a strep culture test. Then the doctor came in, took one look, and started going at the back of my throat with a cotton swab. I started gagging, but she gets done and says, “Okay, all gone. You just had some food debris stuck to the back of your throat.” Kind of embarrassing…

But they did prescribe me some migraine medicine for my headaches, so that’s cool. I also have to go in next Monday to get my mole removed. It will be way exciting.

In other news, World of Warcraft sucks. I pay $15 a month to wait an hour for 500 people to log off to play my level 30 Shaman! Arggh.

You know you’re living in Irvine when you get a letter from your housing office asking your roommate to take down her curtains. Why? Because they’re not white.

Here’s what I posted on the UCI LiveJournal community:

Dear Berkeley Court,

Thank you for asking my roommate to take down her red curtains. I know the community will be that much safer once we have eliminated all color and life in the community.

Signed,
Your Resident

Yep, it sure was a lot of fun. Not only did we do Universal Studios, but we saw a lot of the landmarks in Hollywood thanks to my GPS navigation system. It makes doing things on a whim loads easier.

You can read about it on my iWeb blog page at http://web.mac.com/tdale2/.

Because I did such a terrible job planning our Valentine’s Day/3 year anniversary, today I surprised Katrina by taking her to Universal Studios!

It should be exciting, and off we go.

CoverFlow lets you browse your iTunes albums like they were physical albums.

I haven’t tried it out yet but it looks really cool.

Update: Yeah, it’s pretty cool.

I don’t need to spend $100 a month on cable when I have this for free.

Does the theme song for Walker: Texas Ranger get any better? Yes, yes it does, when it comes on at 1:00 in the morning while your roommate is watching TV.

Last Thursday I had a lot of fun when I went down to Leisure World in Laguna Woods to present an overview of System Preferences.

Katrina came with me, and I’m glad she did because I have to admit I was a little nervous as there were more than 100 people there! I sat down in front of their bright new projector and gave an hour long talk on the ins and outs of configuring a Mac.

I think I covered a lot of information and hopefully I didn’t talk too fast! I think some of it may have gone over some people’s heads, but with 100 people every one has a slightly different expectation of what they will learn. All in all, though, I think everyone left there with at least something new they could take home and try out.

Here’s a page from the LWMUG website that I archived for historical purposes.

A similar photomontage will be made of anyone else that buys a SideKick.

Update
Got it! 300MB of sweet Roman bliss. It’s terrifying to think that games like this might be lost when the Intel transition is complete!

If you guys really love me, you’ll help me get this torrent up and running:
Caesar_III.torrent
I left the CD at home and I’m dying to play.
